Location & background processing

Why Rideely needs coordinates — especially for drivers — and when the app may refresh data in the background.

Why we use coordinates

Rideely is a location-based ride service. Precise coordinates help us:

  • Match riders and drivers — show relevant nearby requests and estimated pickup points.
  • Navigate and estimate time — improve pickup experience and communicate realistic ETAs when maps are used in the app.
  • Operate shared and intercity rides — align origins and destinations with the trip you booked or published.
  • Safety and support — investigate incidents or lost items when you contact support, subject to our Privacy Policy.

You can usually reduce precision or disable location in system settings, but some features will not work without location permission.

Driver role

When you use Rideely as a driver, location is central to receiving ride offers, confirming proximity to the passenger, and completing trips fairly. We ask for the minimum access needed for these flows and describe optional capabilities in the app permission prompts.

Background fetch & notifications

So you do not miss time-sensitive ride events, Rideely may use:

  • Push notifications — for example when a new ride request arrives or a trip status changes.
  • Limited background work — to refresh ride state or keep connectivity helpers in sync, depending on your OS and the permissions you grant.

Background activity is used to support core ride flows, not for unrelated advertising. You can control notification permissions in system settings; disabling them may delay important ride updates.

Your choices

Review location and notification permissions in your device settings at any time. If you withdraw consent where consent applies, we will stop processing that data for the associated feature to the extent required by law.
